Have a composer of the month. Place pictures of the composer or anything related to the composer on a bulletin board. Play the composer's music during seat work or during free time. You can also have recordings on while students are entering class in the morning or after lunch and recess time. After a week, ask students to begin to identify some of the works that they are hearing. You can also ask them to write in their journals while listening to any of the works and express how it makes them feel. The key here is to... them in the composer of the month's work."

Minute Fillers: Comprehension, Spelling, and More

Fact, Fiction, or Opinion? Builds comprehension skills Write the following statements on a board or chart, or say them aloud. Have students identify each statement as fact, fiction, or opinion. Mercury is the planet closest to the sun. (fact) The hippopotamus is the largest land mammal. (fiction, the African elephant is) Apple pie is the best tasting pie. (opinion) The Empire State Building is the tallest building in Texas. (fiction, it is in New York City) Then give each student a sheet of scrap paper. Have them write and label three statements -- one that is factual, one that is fiction, and one that is opinion. Collect the students' work and use their statements as a class quiz. Great Graphs Builds graph reading skills Collect from newspapers and magazines a variety of graphs. (The major news magazines are good sources; the USA Today newspaper is another excellent source.) You might laminate the graphs so you can use them over and over. Hand each student a graph and a sticky note. Have them write on the sticky note one fact they did not know that they learned from the graph. Have students share what they learned with their classmates. بهترین کیست؟

" مردم سعى کنند صالح‏ترین را انتخاب کنند. آن کسانى که نامزد ریاست جمهورى میشوند و در شوراى نگهبان صلاحیت آنها زیر ذره بین قرار میگیرد و شوراى نگهبان صلاحیت آنها را اعلام میکند، اینها همه‏شان صالحند. اما مهم این است که شما در بین این افراد صالح، بگردید و صالح‏ترین را پیدا کنید. این جا جائى نیست که من و شما بتوانیم به حداقل اکتفاء کنیم؛ دنبال حداکثر باشید؛ بهترین را انتخاب کنید. بهترین کیست؟ من نسبت به شخص، هیچ‏گونه نظرى ابراز نمیکنم؛ اما شاخصهائى وجود دارد. بهترین، آن کسى است که درد کشور را بفهمد، درد مردم را بداند، با مردم یگانه و صمیمى باشد، از فساد دور باشد، دنبال اشرافیگرى خودش نباشد. آفت بزرگ ما اشرافیگرى و تجمل‏پرستى است؛ فلان مسئول اگر اهل تجمل و اشرافیگرى باشد، مردم را به سمت اشرافیگرى و به سمت اسراف سوق خواهد داد. اینى که ما گفتیم امسال، سال حرکت به سوى اصلاح الگوى مصرف است، یعنى امسال سالى است که ملت ایران تصمیم بگیرد که با اسراف مبارزه کند. نمیگوئیم بکلى و یکباره و در طول یک سال، اسراف تمام بشود؛ نه، ما واقع‏بین‏تر از این هستیم؛ میدانیم این کار مال سالیان پى در پى است و باید کار بشود تا به این فرهنگ برسیم؛ باید این کار را شروع کنیم."
